UGS Lecture Series: Phantom Limb Company
Phantom Limb Company (PLC), New York City-based, creates iconic stories that are built on an intersection of innovation, social change and visual art, with a particular focus on the climate emergency and environmental injustice. Collaging puppetry, movement, multimedia storytelling and design, this unique integration of social impact and aesthetic is essential to their work. They are truth seekers, storytellers and deep believers in the power of collaboration to inspire engagement and action.
Phantom Limb Workshop: Assembling Ourselves Through Movement and Puppetry
Together with Phantom Limb Company participants will explore the threshold between body and puppet as we work with group puppetry with a life-size form. We will work to find a relationship between a mocked-up life-size reindeer puppet, our own bodies and a dancer’s body focusing on energy exchange, collaborative movement and generosity. The workshop will be conducted just as we would a rehearsal with prompts and questions to find possible relationships that we can devise as a group to tell a story of the loss of symbiosis and migratory pathways.
For those interested please see the QR code for the sign-up sheet to a special workshop that the group will be hosting following the lecture @ 2:15-3:45pm in BBOX. Space is limited for the workshop.
