MICA BALL
MICA BALL is a large urban game that we designed for the entire MICA freshman class (400+ students) to play. Teams were broken down by class section and had an hour to score as many points as possible in field events, creative missions and a hunt for the iconic M|I|C/A letters! The game tests each team’s creativity, teamwork and light athletic prowess.
Our goal for the game was to create a playful competitive experience that supported a wide variety of play styles, explored MICA’s campus and was inspired by our first year curriculum.
The field events are team based games based inspired by different departments, the events this year were
- Font Fight – a blind fight with foam letter forms.
- Walk Cycle of Doom – an animation inspired relay race
- Human Sculpture Garden – the name says it all
- Painting Panic – a timed shaving cream painting game.
Missions are a creative photo and video scavenger hunt where teams recreate famous art works, interview community members, interpret creative prompts and find locations around campus based on riddles and architecture. Check out the mission responses here on Instagram.
The Hunt is a tag based game where teams had to find and capture all seven of the M|I||C/A letters which were running around in human form around campus. For each letter captured teams would score points and capturing more letters added bonus points.
